THE STORY OF JADE
My name is Corinne Coats Manes, I am from Harnett Co, NC. I have an interest in animal welfare and animal cruelty. I love all animals but my passion is in dogs. I rescue and foster dogs that are in need of a good home. I help in re-homing, getting needy ones the proper medical attention they need and I am a full time animal advocate. My love is the pit bull breed. I have worked with pit bulls since 2005 when I was given a puppy pit bull from my husband, I truly fell in love with her, Her name was Jade, she was the beat in my heart. One morning for some reason she attempted to cross the road which she had never done before, she was hit by someone who just left her to die. I will never forget that day, January 18, 2005 at 7:21am, I put my 70lb baby girl in the back of my car, flew to nowhere because no one was open. I started calling vets, they did not open till 9, luckily I got up with one, she said to go to her office she would be there as fast as she could. Well at that moment Jade was bleeding out of her mouth, her ears, I did not know then as I know now but she was not going to make it. Well after $800.00 and 4 hours of praying, she crossed over to Rainbow Bridge and left her momma and daddy on earth. After a week of grieving I decided I needed to do something in memory of Jade. I started "Project Jade" it was successful for 2 years. Due to family demands I was forced to change jobs and work more hours, unfortunately "Project Jade" had to be cut short, but will always be dear to my heart. I do continue to work as a independent rescuer, help other rescues and fosters too. There is such a large amount of people rescuing, we help each other out by social media. Whatever each rescues need, we try to pull together for the animals. There is so much going on in the animal world, we really need some kind of support to get a handle on what's going on in our very own community.. With that said I have taken a stand, I am having a animal awareness day, it is called "Jade's Jam Animal Awareness Day". It will be held in Coats, NC on June 7th from 10:00 to 4:00. This day will be filled with bringing awareness to our community about rescuing, getting involved, educational facts, and learning about animal cruelty. We would like people to understand that turning your head is not going to change things, face the facts and let's do something about this.
I want to do something about the laws in North Carolina, the torment and abuse on animals needs to stop. I would like to make Jade's life as a standing right to what I believe in. This day is all about helping the animals, and making a difference. I am working so hard to make this happen. Please join me in the fight against animal cruelty.
